Daily Duties at Orbital Atk Space Components Division:

Developed budgets and issued test plans, test procedures, safety documents and test reports for bus cell static test lab based on customer supplied requirements. Worked with program management and customer engineering to develop efficient static proof test plans that provided low risk qualification of ATK manufactured structures while meeting customer requirements. Reviewed and approved all test tooling design and procurement for the bus cell static qualification tests. Managed a crew of four test technicians and one test engineer during qualification testing of the Boeing 702SPH structure. Used CAD programs and FEM analysis to virtually plan all test cases leading to schedule reduction of one week and labor hours savings of ~200 hours. Programed and operated bus cell’s Flex Test 200 computer load control system for bus cell static proof tests. Developed a qualification program for technicians and test engineers in operating and programing the Flex test 200 load control system to reduce cost and improve personnel assignment flexibility. Supported dynamic and vibro-acoustic qualification testing of membrane reflectors and sandwich dual shell reflectors at dynamic test subcontractor facilities. Responsible for procurement of dynamic test contractor services and management of test contractor during qualification test programs. Performed modal tap characterization of reflector and telescope structures using ABAQUS modal testing system to verify the performance of the analysis group’s FEM models. Interfaced with analysis group to develop modal tap test plan and issued test reports and mode shape data to analysis group for FEM verification to reduce cost and FEM model correlation time during unit level statoc and dynamic tests.
