Daily Duties at Ethicon, A Johnson & Johnson Company:
As a Process Engineer in the Franchise Operations - New Product Introduction Organization of Ethicon Inc. I was responsible for the development of new products within the company's pipeline. I would work with Research & Development to design the products such that they could be manufactured to the company's high quality standards and with minimal production cost. I would design tests on prototype products to determine what the optimal product specifications were to have the most effective possible device. In parallel, I would design a lab-scale manufacturing process that could repeatably make prototypes for feasibility testing. If the project was properly funded, I needed to scale-up the manufacturing process to produce enough goods to support sales estimates. This "scaling-up" included researching and testing high volume manufacturing equipment at suppliers all across the world. Once manufacturing was identified, purchased and optimized, the process would be qualified at the final manufacturing site to produce salable goods.
What they like about Ethicon, A Johnson & Johnson Company:
Working for a company with an emphasis on social values and helping society is a clear and important priority for you - a critical factor in who you choose to work for. In contrast to other factors, you place an organization's reputation for fairness and concern for the community above most other aspects of the company. As you search for a new job opportunity, it is usually possible to find out if the company is involved in the community and/or if it is addressing problems and issues in society. Pay special attention to non-profit organizations and those specifically involved in social action. Moreover, speaking with current and former employees should enlighten you to perceptions of the fairness of the company's leaders and the treatment of employees.
