Daily Duties at Hachette Book Group:
As the Production Editor for Yen Press, I handled the copyediting and proofreading of Hachette’s manga and graphic novel line, which at the time consisted of eight to sixteen titles per month (each averaging 192 pages) and at least eight prose titles a year. I was also responsible for the copyediting, proofreading, and manuscript styling for e-book conversion of Orbit’s digital-only science fiction/fantasy short fiction program, as well as select print titles on the Little, Brown for Young Readers list. My duties also included schedule and metadata management, seasonal budget updates for applicable costs, as well as contracts, payment requests, and general oversight for a pool of genre-specific freelance copyeditors and proofreaders.
What they like about Hachette Book Group:
The social vibrance of a hiring firm is very important to you. Your ability to make and maintain friendships there is a critical part of your decision. You would likely be dissatisfied with a workplace that is quiet, cold, or otherwise not particularly social. When you investigate a new hiring company, ask recruiters, managers, and potential co-workers about the social life and opportunities there. This is especially important when you are relocating; moving dramatically alters your social sphere both inside and outside the workplace.

Climbers who worked at Hachette Book Group had these interests:
Books | |
---|---|
The Tao of Pooh | When asked "What's my favorite book" by Kirkus for my business card, this was my answer. |
Neverwhere | This book by Neil Gaiman, one of my favorite authors, was a contender for my favorite book. |
Bitter Seeds | The first book in the Milkweed Triptych, Bitter Seeds by Ian Tregellis was another contender for my favorite book. But as it's sort of "the new hotness" in my list of best reads, it was hard to label it my favorite book of all time. |
