Daily Duties at University Of Illinois Urbana Champaign:

Supported in the Laboratory of Dr. Marie-Claude Hofmann, College of Veterinary Medicine, in the development of plasmid vector constructs for the creation of immortalized quail proepicardial cells. I cloned and amplified target plasmids in E. coli. I used PCR primers with embeded restriction sites to amplify a viral gene. I performed restriction enzyme digests and ligations. I transformed the recombinate plasmids into bacteria and selected several clones for analysis and confirmation. I prepared the recombinate plasmids for sequencing and analyzed the sequences for successful constructs. I instructed an undergraduate in Dr. Hofmann's lab in the above molecular techniques. I maintained a primary culture of dog spermatogonial stem cells in co culture with other primary cells to aid a PhD student's project.
