Daily Duties at Colorado Dept. Of Corrections Denver Women's Correctional Facility:
Applying six years of experience as Director, Market Development for an RTC to current job duties, which include working as a primary clinician / matrix manager assisting development / management of the Women’s Residential Treatment Program (RTP). Designed and executed a completely new residential treatment program business plan for high-risk, high needs population of seriously and chronically mentally ill females. Focus on evidence-based practices (EBP). Additional focus involves keeping the RTP beds filled with clients who need the highest level of residential care due to the acuity of their behaviors and diagnoses. This position exists to provide delivery of mental health services at an advanced practice level to a special population of offenders with mental illness / substance abuse / delayed development in compliance with mental health guidelines. Tasks include assessment of treatment needs; individual and group therapy; crisis intervention, and working with other staff regarding the mental health needs of inmates. Also: evaluating offenders’ treatment plans, on-call duties, coordinating group schedules for clients, implementing an incentive-based behavioral level program, all within the context of a modified DBT-based therapy modality in a corrections environment. The goal is to reduce recidivism, reduce the frequency of crises, and to give offenders the daily living skills they will need to function successfully in society.
