Daily Duties at Defense Language Institute, Army Community Service:

Implemented and directed the spouse and family member employment assistance program goals and objectives for the installation and surrounding areas; recommended, planned and effectively used allocated resources while clearly outlining organizational goals and objectives and providing guidance and support to staff to ensure mission accomplishment. Developed a database of job opportunities for family members through acquired knowledge of client skills and abilities. Promoted awareness and understanding of Employment/Volunteer Readiness Program; established and maintained continuous relationships with corporate industry personnel, small business agencies, local chambers of commerce, the Economic Development Council, state employment development services, universities, local colleges, and private employment agencies. Coordinated and advised the Directorate of Community Activities on Program issues. Experienced in designing effective marketing campaign strategies and public relations programs to ensure target population (family members, base population, and local employers) were informed about the Army Community Service (ACS) employment assistance program. Designed, developed, and maintained data management systems techniques to include data and process modeling, application design, configuration management, computer requirements, and quality assurance. Designed, coordinated, conducted and evaluated workshops and seminars on specific job skills such as resume writing, interview techniques, salary negotiation networking, and achieving a professional image. Developed and implemented a follow-up system to identify, interpret and track program effectiveness and success. Supervised two civilian personnel and three contractors; oversaw the completion of all assigned work products and services and administered the organization's human and physical resources. Interviewed, counseled and advised staff on career, occupational, volunteer and educational issues. Established and maintained continuing contact with volunteer user agency managers, including Army Community Service, Youth Services, Chaplains' Programs, California Medical Detachment, American Red Cross, Family Support groups, etc. Tracked 65 volunteers on the installation (by agency or organization) and total hours volunteered. Collected and analyzed program statistical data to fulfill regulatory requirements and to evaluate program effectiveness. Conducted annual comprehensive volunteer agency needs assessment to identify support agency requirements, i.e. new program support, training requirements, changing organization needs, etc.
