Daily Duties at Wa State Department Of Health:

Served as the agency’s CFO and a member of the agency’s Senior Management Team. Lead a team of management level professionals by setting strategic direction and policy development to accomplish division and individual program goals in support of the mission of the agency to improve the public’s health. Monitor operations to ensure effective and efficient business practices are implemented and executed successfully to achieve agency business and establish strong policy approaches. • Manage, develop, lead, and mentor a team of division management level employees made up of the Budget Manager, Director of Accounting, Grants, Payroll, Revenue/Fee, Director of Facilities and Business Services, Contract & Procurement Manager, and Operations and Finance Manager. • Oversee division operations of 73 FTE’s with direct budget control of the central administration-operating biennial budget of $25 million. Lead and direct the budget development of a $1 billion biennial operating budget, $40 million capital budget, $25 million indirect budget, and 1,600 FTE’s. • Collaborate with other public agencies, stakeholders, and constituents as part of the State budget building process. This includes maintaining effective working relationships with the Governor’s Budget Office, Legislative Analysts, and other elected and appointed officials of other government agencies. • Serve as the Executive Sponsor to the agency multi-cultural workgroup. Provide leadership and strategic approaches to workforce diversity, equity and access issues. Maintain ongoing collaboration with the agency’s Human Resources Division and Senior Management team, as well as external partners and diversity officers.
