Daily Duties at North American Protection & Control, Llc:

Installation of Roberts Substation, Florida Power & Light Co., Palatka, FL: Installing the protection, control and communication system for construction of a new 230/500 KV substation nearby an existing 230 KV substation.  Execute client specified test plans and loaded setting into SEL421 and GE D60 for 500KV transmission lines.  Executed band frequency testing for Wave Traps.  Inspected wiring between circuit breakers to relay panels by injecting currents in CT wires using Doble F2100 Test System.  Connected communication channels in between the relay panels.  Tested logic and connectivity for SEL 751 relays. Executed client provided test plans. Exelon Generation Wind Substation Maintenance Projects, TX & KS: Annual maintenance program in 4 wind generation substations of Exelon Generation.  Performed functional and operation testing for SEL-311L, SEL-311C, SEL-351, SEL-487 relays.  Performed Specific Gravity Test, Intracellular Resistance and Individual Cell Resistance Test for the battery rack.  Carried out thermographic survey before and after maintenance of each of the substations. Prepared report for the survey.  Performed functional and operation test on breakers. Tenaska Virginia Generation Maintenance Project, VA: 4-yearly maintenance program of the Generation Plant.  Performed functional and operation testing for GE DGP (Digital Generator Protection), LPSO (Line Protection System), MIF (Reverse Energization), MIV (Bus Ground), 60-1 (Voltage Balance), DBF (Digital Breaker Failure) and 745 (Transformer Protection) relays for 4 separate generating units.  Prepared test reports for the engagement. Dominion RTS Project, Richmond, VA: Developing prototypes for relay test plans using Enoserv Relay Testing Software (RTS).  Self-trained in the working and capabilities of RTS. Developed automated test plans for SEL 311B relays using Enoserv RTS. Texas New Mexico Power (TNMP) Co. Tejas Project, Texas City, TX: Upgrade of an existing 138 KV bus at TNMP’s Tejas substation to a ring bus that also included installation of a new circuit breaker.  Ensured proper wiring between relay panels and new circuit breaker as per design document.  With Senior Field Engineer, reviewed preliminary design drawing for accuracy & mitigation plans for replacing old line panels.
