Daily Duties at Sobran Inc:
Implemented and evaluated new animal care procedures; monitored experiments to ensure research study protocols were being followed and notified proper personnel if deviations were noted; participated in Institutional Animal Care Use Committee (IACUC) meetings; and coordinated facility inspections Ensured, by performing and/or delegating necessary functions, that animals were provided feed, water, bedding and clean cages, according to their individual care requirements; also tracked and ensured that proper environmental conditions (temperatures, light levels and ventilation) were met at all times. Established a sentinel system to track and record relevant data in relation to animal health and ensured the observation of animals daily for signs of illness or disease, testing for parasites and coordinating necessary care with veterinarian(s) Coordinated the ordering and receiving of animals, ensuring that the animals arrived in time for research use, that appropriate housing was available and that all procurement specifications were met; inventoried shipments, check health status and input data in the record system Directed the operation and maintenance of the facility’s surgical suite on a day-to-day basis, making sure that sterile supplies are stocked and that housekeeping and sanitation practices are performed consistently; maintained all required facility records, including daily inspection logs, health records, protocols, censuses and facility records, in computer databases and paper files Responsible for breeding animals for use in teaching and research projects. Communicated regularly with research personnel regarding the condition of the animals and on all issues related to their care. Assist principal investigators in conducting animal research projects, including but not limited to pre-surgical and postsurgical care, injections, drug administration
