Daily Duties at Ut Md Anderson Cancer Center:

 Utilize skills in receiving, processing, creating patient records, ordering and perform tests on: patient, donor, proficiency, research, wipe test, unknown blind samples.  Strong skills in serology HLA typing: cell isolation, tray readings, analyzing and associate results with CREG groups.  Adept knowledge in molecular typing: manual and automation in DNA extraction, cell counting, DNA quantity and qualification, PCR, SSP, SSOP & rSSOP, gel electrophoresis, sequencing methodologies.  Good skills in operation, basic troubleshooting laboratory instruments: cell Coulter, 96-well spectrophotometer, Victor, Nanodrops , Puregene, Guanidine, Autopure, Qiagen Symphony, EZ1/EZ1-Advanced, 9600 thermocycler, new single and tetrad Bio-Rad thermocyclers, Tecan, Dynal, Luminex, Janus, 3100/3730 sequencers.  Analyze, review for accuracy. Associate molecular results with serological equivalent and report test results. Identify abnormal values and report to the clinical laboratory scientist for further review if needed.  Other tasks include: Prepare daily necessary reagents depending on procedure. Oversee and monitor weekly inventory of reagents, laboratory supplies, QC between the same lot new shipment and new lot shipment. Perform, tract and maintain QA/QCs records: instruments, reagents, temperatures of pre and post sites of the lab. Troubleshoot and document when calibration/QC out of the range. Billing with barcode system, create new encounter as needed. Train and evaluate students during their rotation in the lab. Create electronic sample storage location using scanning system. Review and revise SOPs upon necessary. Lab inspection preparation. Yearly journal club presentation.
