Daily Duties at Will County Health Department:
• Conducted inspections at all risk levels of restaurants • Investigated food-borne illness cases and complaints concerning restaurants, daycares, schools, nursing homes, swimming pools, wells, conventional and mechanical septic systems and general nuisances to public health • Completed plan reviews, pre-operational and opening inspections of restaurants • Conducted licensure and routine inspections at tanning facilities and body art/piercing facilities • Conducted well and septic surveys for real estate transactions • Completed surveys and take water samples for non-community public water program • Performed soil and percolation tests to determine size of septic systems • Completed final inspections for new homes as it pertains to septic and well permits • Inspected septic system installations • Inspected and sample private wells • Inspected and issued permits at temporary events • Conducted licensure and routine inspections at a beach and many swimming pools and spa facilities • Wrote grant to receive funds from the state to run the West Nile Virus Surveillance and Protection Program • Worked with the West Nile Virus team to set traps and collect data within Will County
