Daily Duties at Schneider Regional Medical Center:
• Generalist including Microbiology and Parasitology • Perform complex laboratory tests and procedures on blood as well as other body fluids, according to laboratory policies • Prepare and reassert samples for testing according to laboratory policy • Responsible for the accuracy, interpretation, and reporting of all test results • Perform microbiological, related biological, and biochemical examinations on clinical as well as environmental specimens; this is done to detect and identify microbial agents of disease. • Perform serological tests to aide in the diagnosis of communicable diseases • Perform proficiency testing on simulated specimens for all departments of the clinical laboratory • Perform routine maintenance on equipment and quality control for all reagents • Perform clerical and support services as needed such as answering the telephone, calling stats, and giving critical values to the appropriate medical personnel • Keep accurate records of quality control, maintenance, and workload data
