Daily Duties at Nortel Networks:
Leveraging change management skills and a solid business acumen, I ensured that transition activities for the Systems Group and all aspects including the knowledge transfer, materials and equipment, lab capabilities, vendor engagement, personnel movement and project deliverables were deployed to China. The company was experiencing a significant transition which heightened my responsibility in 2009. I provided knowledge and support and managed the agent conducting safety and regulation requirements for global products, while testing and compliance submissions were executed from China. I supervised 12-15 direct reports and 5-10 contractors and oversaw a substantial budget. This role allowed me to gain expertise in an unfamiliar territory while using my negotiation skills with stakeholders. One of my requirements included motivational coaching and presenting to stakeholders and staff in China information and procedures regarding the Nortel transfer, which involved culture integration and preparing for technological transitions. I developed a cost reduced base station in China, reducing reduced costs by 25%-30% for the battery portion, increasing signal capabilities and technological efficiency by as much as three times and overall costs by up to 66%. Additionally, I developed a solid personnel base in China of 7 staff in Beijing and 7 employees in Shunde. The most successful project that I had executed was integrating a digital pack into legacy equipment and controlling operational activities, which included equipment gathering and working with the test lab to completion in only three months. Products: Telecommunications System Integration | Test Transition Program | Nortel transfer
What they like about Nortel Networks:
Working in an organization that is technologically advanced, creative, and innovative is critical in your assessment of hiring companies. Less important to you are stability of the organization, the length of time an organization has been in business, and the business' plans for the future. You prefer a fast-moving company that will take risks to achieve its goals and objectives. The length of time the company has been in business is irrelevant. Maintaining status quo is unnecessary. You thrive on change, uncertainty and the upside of potential business risks, especially those associated with innovation. Stability for the long haul is not nearly as important as is working in an atmosphere that is charged with a sense of urgency and constant change.
