Daily Duties at Indiana Dept. Of Transportation:

• Direct and administer all district construction activities as well as all transportation projects, project engineers, project supervisors, and project inspectors. • Work with major contractors in a Design-Build environment. Execute project plan, identify risks, and offer mitigation plan. • Lead design teams from scoping to bid and construction, ensuring that quality, safety, and all compliance measures and cost objectives are met. • Evaluating bid/proposal documents to select winners on basis of innovation and customer service. • Responsible for managing over 50 plus employees including but not limited to designers, surveyors, project managers, contract supervisors, consultant liaisons. • Perform value engineering on projects equal or greater than 25 million dollars. • Review staffing plan for all construction projects and evaluate/adjust the staff workload on an ongoing basis to accommodate strategic plan goals and department standards. • Provide developmental opportunities, coach staff to foster development, evaluate performance, approve section staffing levels, and recommend discipline. • Manage operations of the Construction Division including policy development and implementation, policy guidance and interpretation, and effective utilization of staff. • Communicate project development statuses regularly to all internal and external stakeholders, working to mitigate risk and improve efficiencies. • Provide management level support for contractor RFI's and contract changes and customer concerns. Facilitate the resolution of construction claims. • Achieve insight, capture trends, respond quickly to new opportunities or shifts in the market, guide business growth and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs).
