Daily Duties at Aaf, International:

I was hired to managed the swift commercialization of the acquisition of a proprietary filter media pleating technology to into AAF's global business model and targeted market segments and applications. My responsibilities included: Global P&L; Cross functional team management including research and development, operations/ manufacturing, sales and marketing, and quality assurance across AAF's Commercial and Power and Industrial divisions. As my role progresses, the primary focus was on structuring the new business to fit into the global business model, quickly developing new products to get to the market in order to generate income to start paying off the investment, and managing the inner-copmany and Corporate owners (Daikin- Japanese owners) expectations. This acquisition occurred during a time period where the was great financial instability and a high-level restructuring and struggle for political influence. Confidential note: The position that I was recruited for turned into a political minefield that I had little control over. Additionally the CEO was on his way out the door and had personal motives for eliminating cost (overhead) in order to pad his own severance package. Most of my time was spent building organizational/political bridges to overcome operational deficiencies within AAF. The successes that were achieved in the short time in the position were gained because of existing relationships that I had cultivated and leveraged for short-term wins.

What they like about Aaf, International:

Working in an organization that is technologically advanced, creative, and innovative is critical in your assessment of hiring companies. Less important to you are stability of the organization, the length of time an organization has been in business, and the business' plans for the future. You prefer a fast-moving company that will take risks to achieve its goals and objectives. The length of time the company has been in business is irrelevant. Maintaining status quo is unnecessary. You thrive on change, uncertainty and the upside of potential business risks, especially those associated with innovation. Stability for the long haul is not nearly as important as is working in an atmosphere that is charged with a sense of urgency and constant change.
