Daily Duties at U.S. Cellular:
Work closely with all engineering groups in the Network team including RF Design, Traffic, Real Estate, Construction, Operations, and System Performance. Analyze work orders and coordinate with equipment vendors to assure that equipment is configured to meet network requirements. Design, specify, and document special equipment configurations when required by site-specific construction situations. Was part of a 4 person department team to engineer the network for a high profile company project, the expansion of next generation technologies, 4G/LTE coverage to 350+ existing cell sites, representing hundreds of customers across Midwest region in support of mobile customer data, voice and IP needs. This entailed working with various departments to ensure engineering specs were accurate for deployment (ie, communicated with vendors to purchase routers configured specifically for each cell site, assigned appropriate IP addresses in correct OSPF areas, procured and determined where Enode B's should be deployed depending on existing shelter space availability &/or constraints). Initiated and completed work orders or Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) for overall team project management. 1. Engineered over 400 ECRs (Engineering Change Requests) in support of next generation wireless services (ie, 4G / LTE ) across four states in Central region. 2. Executed ECRs to convert EVDO carriers from T1 to Ethernet. 3. Procured cell site materials to meet network growth needs
What they like about U.S. Cellular:
Working in an organization that is technologically advanced, creative, and innovative is critical in your assessment of hiring companies. Less important to you are stability of the organization, the length of time an organization has been in business, and the business' plans for the future. You prefer a fast-moving company that will take risks to achieve its goals and objectives. The length of time the company has been in business is irrelevant. Maintaining status quo is unnecessary. You thrive on change, uncertainty and the upside of potential business risks, especially those associated with innovation. Stability for the long haul is not nearly as important as is working in an atmosphere that is charged with a sense of urgency and constant change.
