Daily Duties at Itt (Now Known As Exelis):
Was part of a three person working team with a Inside/Outside Plant Team Lead. Would work in teams or individually on the pulling, placement, installation, termination, troubleshooting, testing, and repairing of CAT 5/5e/6 (twisted pair) and Fiber Optic (single and multi-mode) cables. Trouble tickets were assigned utilizing the Remedy ticketing system that was checked on hourly and daily basis during work hours. Used Fluke Fiber Optic test equipment for the testing and verification of the fiber optics. Terminated CAT 5/5e/6 twisted pair cable according to EIA/TIA standards. Used personal CAT 5/5e/6 cable tester to test and verify cables. Also gained knowledge and use of the NOYES Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer (OTDR).
