Daily Duties at Verizon Communications:

Initially job was to take phone calls from Verizon field installers for FiOS and assist with ONT issues and provisioning problems. Developed into me being the Subject Matter Expert for Fiber Network Team providing mentoring and support and coaching of 14 technicians under my team. Managed all escalations and Presidential appeals with tact and diplomacy, taught team how to troubleshoot faster and more effectively. Worked on provisioning fallout cues and made recommendations ot IT teams on how better to make the system more user friendly and provide networks more abilities to make changes and updates them selves rather than delay order issues by having to wait on someone else to update an order. Watched current processes and provided alternative processes to management to put in place that aided in speeding up the ability to resolve issues in a more professional and timely manner. Taught technicians the the correct way to close out tickets to assure that the cause and resolution codes were accurate to truly reflect what impacts the network is having on the FiOS customers and garner support for changes to be made and updates done on the ONTs. Worked personally with Technology Team and vendor's to resolve HW and SW problems with ONT's and identified a until then unknown issue with screaming ONT's (optical terminal screaming data back up into the network making the customers connections unstable) Vendor later verified it was their HW problem and resolved to replace the faulty ONT models with new ones saving the company from losing thousands of customers. Assigned to go through the Technicians knowledge base and clean it up and add new documentation to ensure materials and helpful documenta were easy to access while they were troubleshooting problems. Created new wiki type database and had IT implement that so that they can search by topic versus scrolling for the M&P document they needed. Did weekly delivery of new methods & procedures and updates to the team and had them read and sign off on the new information.
