Daily Duties at Verizon Digital Media Services:

Was supposed to be an Engineer managing the transcoding and delivery of video content however, my PM background and Process and change management skills were put to use instead to manage the Digital Media Engineering group within Professional Services. Project Manage the on-boarding process of bringing new customers onto Verizon's new digital media platform and manage the migration of existing clients to the new platform for our Professional Services Group. Hold daily cross functional team calls for status updates Attend daily technical calls to tract defects and fixes of current software releases Create project documentation, timelines, milestones and keep them updated Provide weekly and monthly reports to management Partner with Technology to resolve technical issues and defects affecting test accounts for new customers or live Production accounts Verify and confirm Change Management requests Create and submit infrastructure requests to on board new customers including Origin server mount points needing to be set up, adding CDN accounts and configuring CDN URLs, updating DNS servers. Requesting access for Aspera SSL and Rsync accounts for new customers. Requesting client to complete VOD data sheet and take that information to engineering to set up proof of concept testing to ensure the formats and requested work were viable and can be created and streamed with the highest possible quality across our networks. Confluence Administration - Manage Confluence access and keep the Wiki updated with Process and Procedures to on board customers to new platform. Research and present Jira Project Management Plug in for centralized Project 2010 templates so that they are centralized in one place that anyone can access and view at any time. Located the module and worked with Jira admins to install the software and then created the templates and trained the rest of Professional Services how to use the module. Created the documentation on Process and Procedures for bringing customers onto the new Platform with 6 phases and stage gates and hand off requirements to various teams to complete there part of the Project Created work break down structure for on-boarding process Analyzed technical requirements for new functions to be added to our Workflow Business Process Tool and worked with PM in technology to create the top 10 priorities and functions needed per 6 week software release cycle. Create video encoding profiles to hand off to VOD engineering team to configure in transcoders Manage proof of concept lab environment access for Engineering team and ensure VMWare virtual cloud was up and running and available for proof of concept testing. Maintain inventory of all equipment in lab environment Project Manage the installation of and build out of new digital media engineering lab from concept to blue prints to vendor selection to interior design, desks lighting networking HW/SW etc. including the purchasing and receiving of equipment and services. Create training material for new employees on how the platform works and create Visio network drawings and power points for my reports
