Daily Duties at Nome Public Schools:

I was a sole HR employee who was responsible for all aspects of the HR function. 1. I was responsible for all recruiting and interviewing for openings in the district. This included classified and certified personnel. I used an on-line recruiting tool on a regular basis as we recruited teachers. I facilitated several Skype interviews. It was my job to find the best candidates and then work with the Superintendent to determine who was receive an interview. I was responsible to determine years of experience and propose salary ranges to the Superintendent. I was also involved with recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and travel arrangement for Principal prospects. I planned the travel for the annual job fairs. This would involve travel and lodging for 6. 2. I was in charge of all employee files which included making sure that all Certified personnel maintained current licenses. This required a lot of communication with the teachers and the State Department of Education. 3. I was responsible for School District reporting to the State. 4. I completed Records Retention on old employee files and school district files. This task had not been completed for several years. 5. I was the assistant to the Superintendent. This included communication with the schools, Emergency management, working with principals, working with staff from the different schools. 6. I was responsible to facilitate and take minutes during meetings for negotiations for the Classified and Certified Unions. 6. I was the School Board secretary. This included preparing minutes and working with the School Board members for their approval and preparing the packets for each Board meeting. During my tenure the School Board faced several crucial times including a School Board recall vote. 7. I worked with the Business Manager on all employee payroll issues. I was responsible to prepare and distribute contracts on a yearly or as needed basis.
