Daily Duties at City Of Nome:
As Deputy City Clerk, I was a customer service representative for the City. I was also the secretary of the Planning Commission. 1. It was my daily responsibility to monitor the front desk, answer phones for the City, and help walk-in customers with property issues. In this role I learned about building and remodeling permits, zoning issues, and personal property tax. 2. I was responsible to assist the City Clerk in the planning and implementation of the local elections. Under his direction, we were responsible for all notices and election site control. We also recruited election workers, monitored the progress of election day, and tallied the results at the end of the day. 3. I was responsible to prepare for all Planning Commission meetings. I was responsible to prepare the minutes and publish the packet for each meeting. 4. I was responsible for the vault where all City records were kept. 5. I acted as City Clerk in the absence of my supervisor. 6. I helped prepare and research the Personal Property tax rolls. This required extensive work in Excel.
