Daily Duties at National Institutes Of Health:

The NIH computer center is a designated Federal Computer Center that operates on a 24X7 schedule 365 days a year. My duties included controlling first the MVT and then MVS operating system by using the system console and IPLing the operating system. The mainframes used were IBM 370/168, 3033, 4301, and 3081 computers. I set up and printed various forms on IBM 1403, 3211, and 3800 printers. I mounted tapes on tape drives, both manual thread and automatic loading. Other duties included creating and developing microfiche and 16mm microfilm reports from magnetic tape. I mounted and dismounted 3330 disk drives, worked with 3705 communication boxes, mass storage unit and both manual and electronic configuration switching boxes.

What they like about National Institutes Of Health:

You highly value a work environment built on a formal structure, rules, and regulations. You do not enjoy the unpredictability of shifting priorities and deadlines that upset your routine. You require and enjoy direction, input and accountability as part of your work environment. You have a strong need to participate in making key decisions and feel left out if your superiors or co-workers do not seek your input when making decisions. You thrive on providing good customer service to both internal or external customers, and doing so makes you feel good.
