Daily Duties at Department Of Veterans Affairs Health Administration:
• Provide support to the Chief of Surgical Service and the Administrative Officer by providing all aspects of clerical and administrative support • Manage administrative support for over 150 staff members to include surgeons, mid-level providers, nurses, technologists, and administrators • Provide high-level administrative support by conducting research, preparing statistical reports, handling information requests, and performing clerical functions such as preparing correspondence, receiving visitors, arranging conference calls, and scheduling meetings. • Train lower-level clerical staff • Possess excellent customer service qualities and networking capabilities from working many years with healthcare professionals, patients and the general public • Coordinate and direct office services, such as records and budget preparation, personnel, and housekeeping, in order to aid executives • Responsible for inputting fund control points, ensure accounts are properly funded, and placing fiscal orders • Amend federal travel documents and assist staff members with federal travel entries • Track incoming and outgoing correspondence and documents for all Surgical Staff to ensure deadlines are met and documentation is properly routed and maintained • Conduct various statistical analyses to help measure the efficiency and effectiveness of the department in order to report to senior staff members monthly • Maintain financial and accountant logs for the service • Proficient in Microsoft Office 2010 (Outlook, Power Point, Excel, Access, Publisher)
