Daily Duties at Strategic Staffing Solutions/Blue Cross Blue Shield Of Michigan:

Hired by the Director of Information Security was "co-sourced" to run the Information Security Department with E&Y. For the 2012 Calendar year I was hired to help stabilize the operation so that new employees - managers and engineers, and contractors could be hired to work directly for and with BCBSM assuming all the new processes and activities that E&Y had developed and proved out. Additionally I had to develop a complete financial management process (not ever done for the department), prove out the process, establish what had to be managed in terms of software licenses, and all other purchases, to include contract labor, and employee wages for the four managers and a director's assistant to manage on an on-going basis. Additionally, worked with E&Y to establish a metrics reporting dashboard for management to understand where all on-going development projects were, and to understand the statistics regarding the performance of the security operation. Other duties included developing presentations and working to understand and communicate culture changes needed by all BCBSM employees with respect to information security, especially in light of the changes HIPPA imposed on the industry. Finally to manage a $12.5M budget and make sure that all of the budget stayed available to be used and spent to fully build out its planned roadmap.
