Optical Sensor and Assay Development: • Participated in the building of a reconfigurable optical sensor for integration with portable diagnostic technology. • Strategized on applying the sensor as imager of microsphere-based, DNA hybridization assays or PCR reactions. • Developed a multiplexed microsphere-based assay for parasite DNA detection. • Developed prototype validation tests to show that the imager offers the same sensitivity in DNA detection, as commercial devices, but with fraction of cost and footprint, allowing for low-cost, point-of-care applications.
