Daily Duties at Data Sciences Inc:
I was recruited to join the company. I had no knowledge of the newspaper industry but the person who recruited me was a friend's friend and she knew my reputation. She wanted me because I am a hard worker, highly motivated, excellent attention to detail and love being a public speaker. I started work learning the back end of the organization. The technology and software side of things. I learned the programs they created and learned all about circulation and the newspaper industry. I had to add 100 subscribers to the system in order to add to my knowledge of the industry. Once I got an understanding of how the back end worked, I started learning the front end. I marketed new clients and once I got them, I trained groups of 15 or more on the software and how to use it. I self taught myself the software program, created training materials and trained newspaper companies on how to use the program. I attended all the meetings that went on in the company to get the overall understanding so I could be the most informed project manager. I traveled to the client's site to train the employees. I serve as an engaged and involved division member, supportive of the varied experiences and perspectives of internal and external colleagues. I have demonstrated knowledge of digital media for marketing and communication purposes including web analytics. I have experience with project management and media databases.
What they like about Data Sciences Inc:
A hiring company that offers alternative approaches to pay, performance bonuses, and/or equity in the firm is very attractive to you. You're generally less interested in working for an organization offering only traditional, salary-based compensation, one with limited opportunity to acquire equity in the firm, or one that does not actively promote skill development. In addition, you are more likely to choose a company that offers a variety of internal career options, with defined career paths. You view the learning of new skills and development of your expertise as key to your career advancement. These aspects of an organization may become even more important to you as you progress in your field, and are especially critical if you change career or occupation.
