Daily Duties at Wisc Sims Lab : University Of Wisconsin :
• Responsible for the support and maintenance of the Cameca IMS-1280 SIMS mass spectrometer and related lab activities including: • Maintain and troubleshoot ultra-high vacuum system that includes: Turbo pumps, Ion pumps, Tri Scroll pumps, and Mechanical Pumps • Perform unassisted major maintenance functions on the Cameca IMS-1280 Mass Spectrometer that includes: Cesium and Duoplasmatron ion sources, Secondary ion optics immersion lens cleaning, Microscope optics maintenance and alignment, multi collection electron multiplier troubleshooting and repair. Diagnose and solve water circulation, pneumatic, and mechanical problems. • Manage all of the Wisc-SIMS lab spare parts, tool and supply inventories supporting scientists and researchers. • Tutor graduate students and internal/external users on the operation of laboratory equipment such as: Microscopes, Gold Coater, Polishing equipment, and Vacuum sample storage. • Electronic troubleshooting and repair of IMS-1280 high voltage and low voltage components.
