Daily Duties at Marsha M. Meloan:
Started solo law practice immediately after graduating law school and passing GA bar exam the first time I sat for exam. Immediately obtained clients through the outsourcing program utilized by the indigent defense system in place in the State of GA at the time; met clients and their families in attorney rooms and law libraries available at the various county courthouses. Through personal networking, community involvement, client referrals and professional associations I grew the practice without mass marketing. After one year I was able to lease commercial office space in the same building as the AJD's District Attorney and hire a full-time secretary/paralegal. I also began the practice of having an intern working in the law firm year round. This law firm was started with minimal start-up capital (approx $5,000.00). When I merged this practice with BAPC the firm had gross profit of approx. $120K while paying myself $65K and re-investing the balance in the firm.
What they like about Marsha M. Meloan:
The social vibrance of a hiring firm is very important to you. Your ability to make and maintain friendships there is a critical part of your decision. You would likely be dissatisfied with a workplace that is quiet, cold, or otherwise not particularly social. When you investigate a new hiring company, ask recruiters, managers, and potential co-workers about the social life and opportunities there. This is especially important when you are relocating; moving dramatically alters your social sphere both inside and outside the workplace.
