Daily Duties at Star Ledger:
Primary responsibilities included all aspects of Pressroom/Production Management and generalist duties for a 180-employee facility. Staffing and scheduling for three departments 24/7 printing facility. Laid out the printing runs on a daily bases. Designed and initiated and Planed Maintenance Program, where one didn't exist. Cut overhead by generating procedures for bid solicitation. Dealt with union relations, disputes, grievances, arbitrations, and disciplines. Responsible to act in role of plant manager in regards to plant operations. Ensure that water chemistry program for the plant is property implemented and maintained (includes testing, inspections, and treatment programs). Assist with the screening and hiring of all personnel. Complete all other tasks requested by the plant manager. Manage all personnel issues (vacation, scheduling, sick days, personal days) in accordance with collect bargaining agreement. Schedule and oversee all mechanical repairs interfering with production, to ensure minimal down time so production goals are not sacrificed. Track costs against budget for repairs, maintenance, and operations for all facility machinery. Assist in initiating and planning building capital improvements. Responsible for managing outside contractors to ensure little or no impact to production.
