Daily Duties at New York Daily News:
Responsible for staffing and scheduling for a 24/7 facility that has 19 separate shift a week. 250+ employees. Direct contact with business to business print orders. Responsible for daily supervision and operation of production including safety, house-keeping, inventory, man-power control, product quality, productivity, and cost. Role of plant supervisor. In continuous contact with production managers, director of operations, and health and safety managers for assistance and direction. Responsible for training all operators and keeping them accountable for their work Monitor the accuracy and compliance of all SOP and ISO procedures. Assist with preparation and maintenance of the facility operation budget. Provide guidance to all maintenance supervisors. Comply with environmental QA/QC to insure compliance with all environmental requirements when operating the facility as per OHSA. Schedule print schedules and press time for 63 different products. Set-up impositions for all printing products on a daily bases. Set up and schedule all maintenance to be performed daily. Schedule repairs for break downs. Go through all work request and prioritize the requests. Review approve and submit all purchase orders for parts and consumables. Manage the unions and bargaining units for hiring and staffing. Handled all disputes, disciplines, grievances, arbitrations, policy resolutions, corrective actions and proceedings. Tracked all employees for: Days off, personal time, sick time, vacations, and furloughs. Production reports on a daily bases to inform all associated departments about production integrity referring to the machinery and the complexity of production. Set standards and metrics for production capacity and capabilities and measure operators.
