Daily Duties at Federal Aviation Administration:

I am currently retired from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). During my tenure in the FAA, (1992-2013), I performed tasks in Civil Engineering, Construction engineering and management, Environmental Engineering and Impact studies, Electrical Engineering, Structural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Fire Protection and Life Safety and Human Factors. I managed Engineering support for FAA programs which involve the construction of new facilities and integrate new equipments into FAA Spaces. I also work as an Electrical Engineer and am responsible for the designing and developing of electrical products and systems. Within the FAA we are responsible for the complete lifecycle of our systems. These systems are located in the United States, Alaska, Puerto Rico and Guam. I have 25 years of governmental Second Level Engineering Field Support. National Systems Engineering Support (NSED) experience, working closely with Program Mgt, Engineering, Quality Assurance, Logistics, and Vendor Production. I’ve led NSED teams within fast-paced environments – I have hands-on experience incorporating full-scope NESD capabilities in: Acquisition Project Plans, Requirements Planning, Requirements Identification, Project Work Breakdown Structures, Statements of Work, Functional Requirements and Specifications Documentation Updates, Maintenance Standards, Schedules and Procedures. The NSED provides for the development and deployment of engineering changes to the configuration management baseline throughout the life of the fielded equipment, system, or software in the National Airspace System ( NAS). The NSED’s provide technical support to all commissioned systems, subsystem, facilities and equipment in the FAA Inventory. The NSED maintain a standard configuration (baseline) throughout the life of the equipment or system. In this capacity I have acted as: On site engineer ( Resident Engineer), Facility Manager, Senior Design Engineer and the Contracting officer’s representative.

What they like about Federal Aviation Administration:

Working in an organization that is technologically advanced, creative, and innovative is critical in your assessment of hiring companies. Less important to you are stability of the organization, the length of time an organization has been in business, and the business' plans for the future. You prefer a fast-moving company that will take risks to achieve its goals and objectives. The length of time the company has been in business is irrelevant. Maintaining status quo is unnecessary. You thrive on change, uncertainty and the upside of potential business risks, especially those associated with innovation. Stability for the long haul is not nearly as important as is working in an atmosphere that is charged with a sense of urgency and constant change.
