Daily Duties at Southwestern Illinois University:

• Manage and reconciliation of the federal Pell Grant, SEOG, ISAC and all scholarship program totaling over 18 million a year • Work with the external auditors each year in providing and maintaining the information required • Keep abreast of both current and future DOE regulation changes and report changes to the IT Department and the Director of Financial Aid with possible solutions outlined. • Advise other departments at SWIC of federal regulations and the possible impact on the decisions made within SWIC. • Work with IT Department to help solve various system problems. Department liaison with the Financial Functional for bundle testing and implementation of bundles into production. Work on aid year rollover and other set up required for Financial Aid in PS. • Worked with the IT department, Institutional Reporting and other departments within SWIC in gathering and reporting information for Gainful Employment. • Work with IT Department with ID Web and the collection and storage of Financial Aid data from students and parents. • Oversee the verification process, policy and procedure. Update policy and procedure each year as needed. Review Federal Regulation for compliance issues and resolve as needed. • Report information as required by the Department of Education and scholarship donors • Monitors Satisfactory Academic Progress of all financial aid applicants and recipients each semester. Advise other staff and departments of student financial aid standing. Assisted with the development and implementation of new SAP policy changes in 2011. • Coordinates documentation and cash flow of various programs and inter-campus for the benefit of the students and the college • Counsels and advises students and parents on the student’s financial problems and concerns with funding their education. • Supervises and coordinates clerical staff of the front office. Directly supervise 9 staff members and the student workers in the Financial Aid Office. Evaluates and recommends employee advancement and dismissal of assigned staff members. • Assists in the development of office operations and procedures. Update policy and procedure manual as required. • Conducts training and staff meetings for the office as needed • Provide various financial aid workshops to SWIC, high school and other community organizations as requested. • Performs duties as Director in the Director’s temporary absence • Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Financial Aid and Student Employment
