Daily Duties at Cooper Union (Job 3):
Advised potential students of the requirements, credentials, prerequisites and training required to participate in these programs and maintain status. Proofread students personal statements and resumes and transcripts. Identified strengths and weaknesses of each student. Helped students develop plan to mitigate weaknesses. Found clinical observing/assisting experiences for students so they could decide if direct patient care and medical careers were right for them. Supported students applying to MD/PhD, MPH, MD, DO, PhD Biological Sciences, etc. as well as summer jobs and post-graduation employment. Carefully constructed illustrative, detailed, balanced letters of recommendation for each student to show medical school admissions committees why they would make very good, excellent, or outstanding and what they still needed to work on in the process.
What they like about Cooper Union (Job 3):
You give high priority to hiring firms with prestige. Market reputation and prestige of a firm may be determined through on-line research, and conversations with individuals working in your target industry. Note that firms "in the public eye" receive a great deal more critical publicity and attention than those operating with more anonymity. So as you assess your employment opportunities, be sure to seek out the positive aspects of the firm's reputation in addition to noting negative publicity the company may have received.
