Daily Duties at U.S. Department Of Veterans Affairs:

Works under the general supervision of the Chief, Police Service, who assigns operational responsibility on a rotational shift basis. Participating in most of supervisory functions and appraises performance of subordinate staff. Receives instructions on new or revised procedures, directives, and policies. Relied upon as an expert in supervising the application of law and order in a variety of new and changing circumstances with work reviewed in terms of decisions rendered, adequacy, thoroughness, and overall effectiveness of shift operations. Responsible for planning, directing and reviewing the activities of personnel engaged in protection and law enforcement at government installations with concurrent and/or exclusive jurisdiction. Supervises and coordinates physical security inspections throughout the medical center. Conducts vulnerability assessments on all VISN 21 Outpatient Clinics which includes San Francisco, San Bruno, Santa Rosa, Clear Lake, Ukiah and Eureka, California.
