Daily Duties at Wal Mart:

The store manager is responsibly for the opertaions of the "total box" and is accountable to the success or failure of that operation. Operations of the total box include: * Morning tour to establish priorities for the day, followed up on for completion by the afternoon management meeting. * Detail tours within the store and departments to ensure each item is scanned, on hands correct, ordered, signed as needed, and featured as needed. * Ensure accounting office has finalized the days sales and submitted deposits for previous day. * Ensure personnel office has completed payroll needs as dictated for each associate each day. * Ensure personnel is reviewing applications and is hiring to the needs of the store as outlined by the store manager. * Ensure any terminations are conducted as needed and done in a fair and consistent manner. * Ensure the orders requested by the associates are reviewed and approved or denied. * Ensure the supplies and maintenance needs that are requested all truly deemed necessary and approved within the budget. * Ensure any claims needing to be filed and sent out are completed each day. * Ensure new and open receivings are completed each day. * Ensure the nights deliveries are planned out with the overnight crew so they can execute the directions given for the freight loads arriving. This can be anywhere from 3 full semi trailers to 5 full trailers depending on the freight flow and season. * Ensure all residue freight each morning is binned correctly to ensure it can be accounted for and pulled as needed. * Ensure all associate evaluations due are completed and input into the system * Ensure all performance discussions are fair and consistent as well as being covered in a timely manner for the associate. * Ensure all schedules are correct and\or are corrected as needed and approved by the associate. * Ensure customer needs are being meet by the team on the sales floor. * Ensure the front end is running to guidelines, all required number of registers opened, no lines, service desk running smoothly and to guidelines, all cart attendants performing as needed. * Ensure asset protection is following up with issues that arise with customers as well as associates. * Ensure all compliance regulations are being followed and acted upon correctly. * Ensure the store is providing an environment that is desirable for the customer: in stock, cleanliness, and friendliness.
