Daily Duties at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center Community Psychiatry Adult Outpatient Program:

I provided clinical supervision to,on average, #4 Adult Out-patient psychotherapist in this program who had graduate degrees and licensed to practice as social work therapists,mental health therapist and ! therapist w/ Ph.D in psychology.Also provided Clinical Supervision to Social Work Therapist in JHBMC Memory Clinic.Based on my skills, experience and interest would assume responsibility for new therapists or individuals who were having problems in another program. Was responsible for screening of potential candidates, involved in interviewing and selection/hiring of new employee.Provided any need training in all areas of psychiatry: Diagnosis, interviewing shills, assessment, treatment planning ,psychotherapy; dynamics related to working in a group of other co-workers including administrative/Psychiatric, Clerical staff and peers and most importantly patients. as well as education re Hosp/Program Ethical policies and procedures.Position involved monitoring caseload for compliance with all Federal/State JCAH/Hospital,medacare/Medicaid/ other insurances; clinical issues. Responsible for developing their role of therapists in a multdisciplinary team to maintain goal of providing excellent quality of service.Responsible for oversight of therapists education,training,enhancement of skills in an effort to promote professional growth.Provided other administrative function AS PART OF CLINICAL SUPERVISION/MANAGEMENT TEAM performed ongoing monitoring& assessment of staff performance: compliance with all regulatory standards and review of clinical performance relative to service excellence standards and Volume of Service-[ Productivity requirements].Responsibility of compliance/performance re. Safety issues for patients and staff.. Was responsible for education of staff re.any new/changes in policy/ procedures/practice as well as review of staff overall performance. This involved frequent [often daily] monitoring of performance via person-person discussion, case review in addition to required quarterly Quality Improvement records review and monthly review of productivity.Re. outside clinical supervision to therapist in other program[bi-weekly meeting in person telephone contact as needed;- goal was to provide clinical supervision to new therapist who had the role/responsibility of working in a multidisciplinary medical team delivering service in a newly developed program servicing geriatric pts. Supervision in addition to clinical training involved organization/program/systems analysis/ role definition overcoming issues in working in multidisciplinary team in order to provide excellent quality of service.In Program Manger absence was designated to act as Coordinator of Day . which involved Management of entire Program staff: Clerical Clinical-about 40 therapists, 6 Psychiatrists and entire patient census,any/all others w/ questions,issues concerns regarding any/all problems/issues. that arose administrative/clinical/other. Other peer supervisors were not as comfortable in this role due to having to be flexible in work schedule and complexity of problems presented. Was often asked by manager to fill-in.
