Daily Duties at Cgh Northwest Llc:

My responsibilities included every aspect of the business. I would constantly look for new projects to work on. I would do all of the cost estimating and create the budget for the projects, and job scheduling and building the critical path for the job. I would manage our employees, and subcontractors and manage all of the projects to ensure that they were completed with high quality, on time and within the budget. With multiple projects happing at the same time, I would allocate resources to each project (materials, tools, equipment, labor and talent) to each project to get the most efficient and effective use. My typical day would start out on the job site getting my crew lined out. I usually had multiple jobs going at the same time and I would visit every job going over the plan for the day with my foreman and answer any any questions that they would have. The prior day, I would evaluate the status of the job, and the progress we made, and develop an action plan for the next day. After visiting all of the my job sites, I would return to the office and work on cost estimating for new future work & building a critical path (job schedule) for upcoming projects. The cost estimating and building the critical path happened at the same time. I would review the construction documents, do material take off's, and estimate the time it would take to complete each task, and phase of construction. I would contact all of our suppliers and get costs for materials, apply estimated hours to our established rates for equipment and labor, and build a line item job cost estimate with all of the data established. Through out the job I would track the actual job cost, and actual schedule with the estimated job cost and schedule, and determine how accurate the job cost estimate actually was. This would be a helpful tool to use as I bid on and created new job cost estimates and schedules for new projects and would ensure greater accuracy in estimating and scheduling. I would also take all of the estimated data, and actual data and could create a unit cost for different types of work, and this would help streamline and speed up the estimating process. I was involved in every process from initial cost estimating and scheduling, to completion and final inspection and turning over the completed project to the owner / client.
