Daily Duties at Science Application International Corporation (Saic):
I was the team lead and a member of the Target Development Cell (TDC), a Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) sponsored entity which consists of Imagery and MASINT analysts supporting several COCOMs to include Pacific Command (PACOM), Central Command (CENTCOM), African Command (AFRICOM), and Special Operations Command (SOCOM), Strategic Command (STRATCOM) and Southern Command (SOUTHCOM), internal DIA groups and other customers with timely analyses of special datasets. I was responsible for evaluating all incoming data on a daily basis and assigning the analyst who would further review the data for possible product generation. As the team lead I would liaise with our government lead to determine the time line for product generation and distribution. Prior to distribution it was my responsibility to review all products produced by the team for the appropriate interpretation of the data, correctness of the reporting and one of the most important aspects – proper classification. To this end I produced a guideline in MS Word format for producing intelligence based products. Additionally, I would generate the outgoing message with attached products and check all other messages from analysts for classification and correctness prior to release. As the single individual from our group that supported other contractor teams with special data while they were deployed, I would generate appropriate datasets and products specific for their mission and forward to the deployed teams via message traffic. This support was provided on a 24/7 basis and I was the point man for several deployments. I was singled out for my outstanding performance and continued support to multiple theatres to include South America, Southeast Asia and Central Africa.
What they like about Science Application International Corporation (Saic):
You give high priority to hiring firms with prestige. Market reputation and prestige of a firm may be determined through on-line research, and conversations with individuals working in your target industry. Note that firms "in the public eye" receive a great deal more critical publicity and attention than those operating with more anonymity. So as you assess your employment opportunities, be sure to seek out the positive aspects of the firm's reputation in addition to noting negative publicity the company may have received.
