Daily Duties at Usaid:
My role was to be the core member of the USAID/Sierra Leone mission, which was based in Freetown, Sierra Leone. My responsibilities included managing a full array of USAID/Sierra Leone funded programs in the areas of program planning, budgeting, documentation and reporting. I was hired to take the lead in providing expert advice in developing the overall program strategy, defining program objectives and desired results, and preparing resource requests. Everyday, I managed all aspects of program monitoring and evaluation of program results against the strategy. In addition to this, I also did a great deal of team building, since the foreign service nationals that were working for AID were left very demoralized due to frequent American management turnover. I knew I was successful when the Deputy Chief of Mission for the Embassy frequently praised my efforts and included me in higher level decision making within the Embassy.
