Daily Duties at New York Methodist Hospital Department Of Emergency Medicine :

Tracked over 300 patients from "door to discharge" to identify delays in the process of care and patient throughput in a busy 55-bed emergency department. Reported to director of research of Emergency Medicine, Faculty of Weill Cornell Medical Center, and the Institutional Review Board who approved this clinical research project. Arrived on site for 13-24 hour shifts as patient loads dictated. Maintained patient confidentiality. Obtained patient census. Identified possible eligible patients. Followed patients ASAP to collect lab results, time stamps, differential diagnoses, prospect of obtaining a CT scan. tracked simultaneous patients throughout their emergency department visit from door to admission or discharge. Tracked throughput. Observed delays in the patient's process of care. Kept organized detailed records. Tactfully probed staff about reasons for repeat or prolonged delays and sought staff buy-in, input, and ideas. I collaborated with multiple Weill-Cornell faculty while designing, developing, and conducting an operational research / quality improvement project in a Brooklyn hospital emergency room for 1.5 years
