Daily Duties at Food Network / Cooking Channel:
1. Ideation and development of formatted non-fiction lifestyle programming via talent driven concepts, competition, adventure, travel and reality models. Create and/or augment television formats to showcase culinary programming as entertainment. 2. Managed all aspects of the development process, from conception of pilots and specials to series launch, of originally commissioned programming for Food Network and Cooking Channel. Inclusive of collaboration with multiple network departments and outside entities: business affairs and agents press, digital, creative services, sales and marketing. 3. Evaluated the efficacy of talent and creative story pitches from outside production companies. Built strong relationships with vendors whose production style or level or ideation could bring a tone, look, feel and story focus, to shows that was contemporary, smart and set Food Network and Cooking Channel apart from the competition. 4. Managed $10-million dollar production budgets and collaborated with business affairs and agents on the creation of deal points for production company and talent contracts (contract duration, pick-up options, budget increase schedule, lock dates, contract restrictions). Recommended ideas for cost containment. 5. Wrote in-show teases, intros, and episode descriptions to ensure network quality control and focus. Reviewed and approved concepts, outlines, created production notes for rough cuts/fine cuts, and guided the direction of episodic story lines during the postproduction process. Provided direction to creative services on the development and look of in-show graphics and show opens (color, tone, elements, font style, placement) to ensure alignment with series content. 6. Conceived and collaborated on convergent digital programming platforms designed to increase web page-view traffic and tie into on-air series episodic or stunt focus. Viewer on-line polls resulted in a 15% uptick in page views and a 10-episode digital webisode series posted a 22% increase. 7. Collaborated with, and achieved ad sales and marketing goals, by aligning programming and sales objectives. Created highly rated program extensions via 1-hour specials and multi-episodic stunts with multi-million dollar ad-sales and marketing integrations. 8. Maintained current programming objectives, of new, and successful long running series by evolving talent, enhancing series focus and creative direction. Discovered new talent, selected primary talent and hosts, reviewed and approved all casting, proposed and approved shoot locations, set design, wrote and edited scripts, created culinary focus. A few successful shows of note: successful series/stunts rated .50 and higher. Anything over 1.0 was a stellar performance for Food Network. Several of these shows also had million dollar ad sales / marketing integrations. FOOD NETWORK Series: - "Chopped" - 20 seasons averaged bet .85 - .92 Chopped Program extensions: - "Chopped Champions" - 5 episode stunt (multiple seasons); "Chopped All-Stars" 5 episode stunt (multiple seasons); "Chopped Grill Masters"; "Chopped Tournament of Stars" - 5 episode stunt. All average 1.02 and higher. "Chopped Teens" averaged 1.7 rating. - "Throwdown with Bobby Flay" 9-seasons averaged .68 - "Throwdown: Rematch on the Grill" - 1-hr program extension .92 - "Grill It!" 3-seasons - "Barbecue Addiction 3-seasons - "Paula's Party" 3-seasons - "Chefs vs. City" 2 seasons - "Kid in a Candy Store" 2-seasons - "Road Tasted" 2-seasons COOKING CHANNEL Series - "Kelsey's Essential" 5-seasons - "Brunch @ Bobby's 4-seasons - "Drop 5lbs with Good Housekeeping"
