Daily Duties at Lennox International:

I was the kaizen promotion office manager for the West Coast division of Lennox Hearth products of 150 direct labor employees. I planned and led the six month kaizen cycle for the primary procuct line of sheet metal natural-gas-burning fireplaces for the new housing industry. In that role, I identifed opportunities to remove waste and cost from existing process methods by documenting standardized work to give each operator in the process flow equal time to help build the product more smoothly timed to the pace at which the customer needed the product. I implemented visual management methods to make more visible the targeted rate at which production should run compared to how they were actually running in real time.Success was measured in hour-by- hour production attainment, reduced lead time (the time unfinished material spends within our factory walls), reduced cycle time for piece (reduced labor cost per unit output), reduced factory footprint (allows growth without needing new buildings), and reduced product travel distance (a measure roughly equivalent to reduced waste).

What they like about Lennox International:

Working in an organization that is technologically advanced, creative, and innovative is critical in your assessment of hiring companies. Less important to you are stability of the organization, the length of time an organization has been in business, and the business' plans for the future. You prefer a fast-moving company that will take risks to achieve its goals and objectives. The length of time the company has been in business is irrelevant. Maintaining status quo is unnecessary. You thrive on change, uncertainty and the upside of potential business risks, especially those associated with innovation. Stability for the long haul is not nearly as important as is working in an atmosphere that is charged with a sense of urgency and constant change.
