Daily Duties at Esterline Technologies:

I am the driving force of changing our current manufacturing processes. Current method is entrenched with long service employees; I observe and collect data, use this data to design better process management methods, convince people who distrust change of the improved new method, and lead teams to hands-on rearrange the processes to reduce cost and shorten the time it takes to buy raw materials and convert them to products the customer will pay for. Success is measured in reduced lead time (the time unfinished material spends within our factory walls), reduced cycle time for piece (reduced labor cost per unit output), reduced factory footprint (allows growth without needing new buildings), and reduced product travel distance (a measure roughly equivalent to reduced waste).
