Daily Duties at Alliance Data:

My career started with Alliance Data as a Credit Risk Analyst. My role included managing the criteria for Acquisition, Limit Management, and assisting with Collections. It was my responsibility to monitor the Credit Risk of my portfolios to optimize profit by managing bad debt and maximizing sales and revenue. I created monthly reports to monitor portfolios and did vintage style analysis and forecasting to adjust parameters and refocus efforts to maximize profits. Also, as a Credit Analyst I partnered with Marketing to set Marketing Criteria to maximize our clients’ sales while ensuring the programs did not negatively impact the risk to the portfolios. At times I helped marketing select customers for various initiatives. I worked with Fraud to help measure the impact of new fraud strategies. My responsibilities expanded when I transferred to the bank, Comenity Capital Bank, to include oversight within the bank, affiliates, and outsourced third parties to ensure that the bank’s credit risk practices and policies were followed. I became responsible for creating and maintaining the credit risk policies, procedures, and processes for the bank. More of my time was spent looking at global trends and creating reporting for senior management and the Board of Directors. As part of the reporting I explained trends and helped management understand how those trends impact the business. Lastly, I meet regularly with the Credit Risk manager to compare best practices regarding analytics, risk criteria, and procedures.

What they like about Alliance Data:

The social vibrance of a hiring firm is very important to you. Your ability to make and maintain friendships there is a critical part of your decision. You would likely be dissatisfied with a workplace that is quiet, cold, or otherwise not particularly social. When you investigate a new hiring company, ask recruiters, managers, and potential co-workers about the social life and opportunities there. This is especially important when you are relocating; moving dramatically alters your social sphere both inside and outside the workplace.
