Daily Duties at Sun Coke Energy:

In my current role, Director, Technology at SunCoke Energy, I create distinctive value from SunCoke’s assets and licensing by finding and delivering safe, reliable and flexible solutions and rapidly implementing appropriate technologies related to heat recovery metallurgical-grade coal and coke production. I actively manage and direct the development of technologies that expand and improve SCE coke know-how, support SCE business goals by leveraging know-how, coke-process modeling tools and data from plant trials. My team is in charge of optimizing the operation of existing coke and coal plants, including CFD modeling, for improving coke tons delivery and reliability of SunCoke’s assets, and solving problems of immediate and long term interest to SunCoke using best in class models and sound chemical engineering principals.

What they like about Sun Coke Energy:

Working in an organization that is technologically advanced, creative, and innovative is critical in your assessment of hiring companies. Less important to you are stability of the organization, the length of time an organization has been in business, and the business' plans for the future. You prefer a fast-moving company that will take risks to achieve its goals and objectives. The length of time the company has been in business is irrelevant. Maintaining status quo is unnecessary. You thrive on change, uncertainty and the upside of potential business risks, especially those associated with innovation. Stability for the long haul is not nearly as important as is working in an atmosphere that is charged with a sense of urgency and constant change.
