Daily Duties at Elizabeth City State University:

Managed team of nine professionals directed to serve as essential business partners regarding human resources decisions. Spearheaded cross-functional initiatives to achieve successful service delivery in areas of: development and communication of policies, practices and procedures; employee benefits; retirement and succession planning; professional development and training; wage and salary/position management; faculty and staff recruitment and selection; performance management and merit reviews; workers' compensation claims management; employee assistance program referrals; budget management; employee and retiree recognition; permanent and temporary payroll; employee relations matters including progressive discipline and termination process. Developed and directed strategies for launch of new systems (Banner and PeopleAdmin) which enhanced effectiveness of payroll, recruitment and selection, and performance management efforts 6 months after launch. Reorganized Employment Security Commission appeal process resulting in a 50% decrease in payments for non-qualified unemployment claims. Initiated conflict resolution techniques reducing number of grievances and employee disputes filed. Increased division productivity in one year through restructure of functional assignments. Strengthened university's compliance efforts by leading implementation of Title IX program.
