Daily Duties at United Nations:
When I was hired to work at the United Nations, my primary responsibility was to be an instructor in the conversion of the UN accounting system from Modified Cash to the Full Accrual system. Lead accounting team members; perform staff reviews; train and develop; mentor senior accountants & managers This meant that I had to travel to be the main United Nations offices in New York, Geneva, Vienna, Addis Ababa, Nairobi, The Middle East and Chile. However as time evolved, I became more and more involved in administrative duties including playing a lead role in designing, selecting and implementing the International Public Sector Accounting Standards Change Management training program within the organization. Initially, I worked as part of a team but the Director left mid stream and all her duties were added to mine. I would submit weekly reports to Senior management and assist with hiring decisions and employee evaluations. I was also helping with the translation of data and documents from French to English. Subsequently I became a member of several in-house committees, including assisting with a manual being written for the UN by Price Waterhouse Coopers(PwC) Exemplifies the highest standards of integrity, ethical behavior and respect for diversity. Knowledgeable of and fully committed to the mission and values of the United Nations. My original assignment was now changed completely as I was not doing any travelling and much of what I now do is local, and completely different from what I was originally hired to do. Strong knowledge of financial accounting and planning, budgeting, risk management, and financial control systems.
