Daily Duties at Nebraska Public Power District:

Chief fire officer responsible for indirect supervision of 90 personnel. Accountable for budget input, creation, and adherence. Coordinate emergency incident operations and assume command. Coordinate testing that impact firefighting equipment, fire mains, barriers, sprinklers, detection and life safety components. Function as FP Program Engineer and FP System Engineer as needed. Assure planned work meets design requirements per applicable NFPA, Insurance, fire department procedures and the post maintenance or installation testing requirements. Responsible person and the initial point of contact for planned and unplanned fire impairments or modifications. Responsible for the issue of fire permits and impairments. Coordinate and conduct fire inspections utilizing applicable sections of National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 1 "Fire Code" and the NFPA Inspection Manual. Coordinate training for firefighters, rescue, and hazardous materials personnel. Review, conduct and critique training and associated drills. Act as a drill controller for Emergency Planning (EP) associated drills. Coordinate and complete fire protection corrective action items through the Corrective Action Program (CAP). Create and analyze trends. Recommend fire equipment purchases proposed by the department. Administrate standard operating procedures related to the department and fire protection requirements implemented by other departments.
