As President I was responsible for Hiring - I would post an ad for a position, interview the applicants and decide on which applicant I thought had the most chemistry to fit in our environment. Firing - If someone wasn't doing their job correctly or was causing trouble, I would terminate their employment. Sales - I would train anyone involved in the sales process to follow the sales trac created by AAMCO and ensure that they followed it daily. If they had troublke we would go over where the issue was and work on correcting it. Advertising - AAMCO had thier own corporate advertising we had to use, but we could write our own for the radio and get it approved by corporate. So we did and I had to edit the radio commercials written by the radio station. I also created a e-mail blast to over 600 local Chamber of Commerce businesses. I would come up with a special offer and contact AAMCO's graphic design team and they would come up with a very professional flier I would blast out and ask that they print it out and post it in their break room for their employees or simply forward it in an e-mail. Accounts Recievables - we only had a few wholesale accouont were we gave them terms, but when they were late I would call them and ask for a check and they usually complied rather quickly. Accounts Payable - I would enter into quickbooks all the invoices, then pay them through web banking within the 30 - 60 day time requirement. Growth - I had hired an ouitside salesman to pick up some wholesale accounts, other repair shops not doing transmissions where they could either send over the customers or send us the transmission to rebuild on a wholesale price. I would say that this generated about $20,000 -$25,000 in sales per year. Marketing - I had ordered pens, pads and shopping bags from AAMCO for give aways tp keep our name and brand in front of our customers. Inventory Control - I would have my manager or myself check our standard inventory items and order them when they hit a certain minimum amonut to maintian good inventory levels. Insurances - I would meet with my insurance agent and discuss all aspects of my insurance coveragses, and deal with any claims as they came up. Taxes - I would along with my bookkeeper keep track of all sales taxes and weekly transfer those monies into a savings account so that they would be there every quarter to pay the state sales tax. Daily meeting with tech's and customer service manager - I would have a breif meeting to discuss what was in the shop, and what parts needed to be ordered to complete each job. Overseeing production - During the daily meeting we wopuld also discuss when each job was to be completed by, what if any problems we were running into, deal with those problems, and discuss what we needed to get ready for the jobs waiting to get in the shop.
