Daily Duties at Nice Pak / Pdi:

Supervised all laboratory testing. Made sure that all daily laboratory maintenance tasks were completed as well as all sample testing. Mentored and trained new hires. Planned and executed a training schedule for all new hires. Ensured that the new hires understood the theory behind the test methods as well as the physical steps within the test methods. Reviewed and ensured laboratory records were accurate and complete. Released the sample lots after reviewing the test results so they could be shipped to customers. Maintained instrument calibration records. Kept records for when all instruments needed calibration and arranged with the vendor to have the service done. Drafted and performed validations. When new products can from the R&D department. I performed the trails to find the neutralizing broth and the dilution that was needed to perform microbial limits testing. A protocol was written and then I executed a full validation with a challenge using at least five organisms. A final report was written containing the validation data results and the final statement for how the sample will be tested from then forward. Performed an administrator role in the Laboratory Information Management System; when new products were put in production I enter the products test plan and specification that the product would be tested against. Performed microbial limit testing, identifications, bioburden, water, and environmental testing. Generated the weekly laboratory task schedules. Updated the Operations department with a weekly report on timeline for sample lots currently being tested. Weekly I would provide the projected dates for when sample testing would be complete so the operations department could arrange shipment logistics. I would also occasionally have to answer for when a sample lot would be late on projected release (i.e. sample was never received and was overlooked on the chain of custody or the sample needed further testing to ensure it meet specification). Wrote SOPs for micro lab and reviewed product specifications. When we received new instrumentation in to the lab I would have it installed; work with it for a few days and then write the SOP on how to use the instrument and how it was to be taken care of. I also was a reviewer of specifications that the R&D department generated; I looked to make sure that the micro testing section contained all appropriate testing for the class of product that it was. Wrote laboratory data memos when requested. Maintained laboratory media inventory. I was allowed access to the department credit card to place orders for laboratory supplies and equipment. Trended environmental data. I exported data from the LIMS system to Excel to create trending charts that would be used in the annual environmental report that was presented to the operations department.

Stability for the long haul is not nearly as important as is working in an atmosphere that is charged with a sense of urgency and constant change.
